Happy Birthday to me!

On August 7 2011, I officially became someone in their 30s.  Last year was all exciting because I was entering a new decade.  This year, just 31.  Luckily, I have always loved my birthday so it was still tons of fun!

The celebrations began the Friday before my birthday with a wonderful Suiter family dinner at Serranos.  Gotta love that bean dip and salsa.  I also received some fun gifts from my students (but the real fun was coming on Monday).

I know that I did something on Saturday but for the life of me I can't remember it.  If it involved hanging out with you (one of my MANY readers), sorry about that.  :)

Then came Sunday.  The day of my birth.  August 7, 2011.  And what a glorious day it was.

I happen to share my birthday with two of my favorite students at church, Nate and Devin, and we had been planning to share in our birthday festivities for a while.  We met up at church and made our first stop at Krispy Kreme donuts (before they stopped giving you an entire dozen for your birthday).

We then stopped off at Party City where I got us all sashes and crowns (it WAS our birthday after all) and we headed back to church for some baptisms.  After church the three of us, plus Greg, went to Joe's Farm Grill for our free lunch.  We were all about the free stuff.

After lunch we dropped the birthday kids off and had dinner later at my mom's house.  I got some good gifts...especially the cutie cards from my awesome nephews!

Then came Monday.  Monday brought some fun.  I ended the day with dinner at my dad's, which was another awesome family celebration.  But the way the day started was what was really notable about Monday.  This is what I walked into when I got to work on Monday...

There were cups everywhere!  It was insane!  As soon as I turned on the light and stepped into my classroom, my teammate Nikki popped into the room and yelled, "I was in charge of cups!"  If you know anything about the show "Friends" (a favorite of mine and Nikki's), you know that Phoebe was in charge of cups for one of Rachel's birthdays and it turned out very similar to my birthday.  I had a good laugh and then proceeded to spend about 25 minutes cleaning up cups.  Happy birthday to me!

I am so thankful for all of the wonderful people in my life who made my birthday very special.  I felt so loved and feel very blessed to be so "rich" in my 30s.

Did they really stop doing a free dozen for your birthday? This is very important information. And I love the cups!
