I have been to a lot of weddings in my day. I do work for a photographer on the side and all. But last weekend, I had the privilege of attending a very special wedding. On Friday, my beautiful friend Lana got married!!!!
Lana is one of the sweetest and bravest people I know. She and I became quick friends after meeting at the summer camp my church attended up in Big Bear. Once she graduated from college, she took a huge leap of faith and moved from California to Arizona. I couldn't have been happier. After living here and blessing my life for two years, Lana made another leap of faith to move back home to California after her father's death. She stepped up to care for her family and allow them to care for her in the face of great loss.
In 2007, she blessed me so greatly by being a bridesmaid in my wedding. We kept in touch over the years since then...sometimes consistent, sometimes not so consistent. Through it all though, Lana is one of my dearest friends. When she called to tell me she had met a wonderful man and they were planning to get married, I couldn't have been more thrilled! And he is indeed wonderful! Their wedding was so much fun and such a beautiful celebration of their love and commitment to each other and to God.
Morgan and I made the trek to California on Friday. It was much more fun to drive out with a friend than alone like the last time.
We checked into our hotel, got ready for the wedding, and headed to the church.
One of my favorite things during the processional is to watch the groom see his bride walking towards him. I love that excitement and anticipation!
And boy was John excited! He almost ran down the steps to get Lana (even though it wasn't time yet). The pastor had to hold him back. So cute and funny!
The ceremony was very personal and sweet. Their love for each other and for God was so evident.
After they were officially married, they participated in communion as a married couple.
John is an archaeologist so when the pastor finally pronounced them husband and wife, John's best man pulled an "Indiana Jones" hat from behind his back as the theme song to the movies began to play. It was such a cute moment to watch them laughing and just enjoying their first walk and a married couple.
Immediately after the ceremony, there was a dessert reception with a receiving line so people could congratulate the happy couple. Everything looked so cute, including the awesome banner they stood in front of.
After that, family and close friends headed to a local restaurant for dinner. Lana's friends and family did such an amazing job getting everything put together and the whole room looked awesome!
After dinner we headed back to the hotel and pretty immediately fell asleep. The next day we attempted to find this awesome Rainbow Sandal store but mistakenly traveled into LA. Whoops. After doing a little more research with our handy iPhones, we figured out where the actual store was. All in all, we did about 3 hours of driving to make it there. Totally worth it though!
After buying some cheap sandals, we headed over to the beach to enjoy the waves for a little bit.
I even got in some cute sand writing to send to Greg. I'm a nice wife.
Thanks for making the trip with me, Morgan. And CONGRATULATIONS Lana and John! Love you guys and it was such an honor to share in your wedding.
