#23 CHECK!!!!

I am very excited to already be able to check an item off my new 101 List!  This past week I was able to check...

23. Go on a vacation with Greg (no church students!)

Now, granted I set some goals on my list that I knew I would be able to easily check off, but that's what makes a good list.  You need to see success early to help motive you.  I knew that we were going on vacation when I made my list, but to my credit, this was something that I was wanting to do for a good long while.

Greg and I have been a lot of places in our married life.  South Carolina, Honduras, Indiana, Michigan, San Diego, Navajo Reservation, Dallas, Colorado.  Each of these times though have been for work, camps, moving, or mission trips.

And I have been a lot of places in our married life.  Chicago, Virginia, LA, Rhode Island, New York, Maryland, New Jersey, Connecticut, New Hampshire.  All of these times I was traveling without Greg.

Together though, without students, the last time we actually "vacationed" together was our honeymoon.  And that was over 4 years ago.  We love to travel and we love leading students but there's nothing like taking a trip just to relax and spend time together.

This past Monday, we left for San Diego with our besties, Robert and Lindsay.  They have 3 kids so getting away without children is quite a feat for them.  I'm just so happy that they had awesome family and friends who made it possible for them to come with us.

We stayed in a great hotel that gives pastors a discount on rooms.  Aside from the money saved though, was the incredible view.

It was so much fun to be in such a beautiful location and just laugh, eat, and relax with Greg and our friends.

Linds and I got in some beach time before the rain while the boys were deep-sea fishing.

The boys spent some of our time on the beach doing what boys do...competing by throwing/skipping rocks.

Cute friends!

Trying to plan an adventure...the storm the day before stopped our attempt at kayaking.

My view from one of our "do nothing by read and sleep on the beach" days.
We were even able to fit in some time to catch up with old friends.  My friend since junior high, Stacy, lives in San Diego.  She was sweet enough to drive up to where we were staying and have dinner with us.  It was GREAT to catch up with her and hug on her!

Our final night we went for a hike up to Torrey Pines, saw how neat nature is (hehe..."neature" - only some people will get that...sorry), and watched the sun set from the beach.

Taking some sunset pictures.

After our hike we got a little fancy and headed out for our last dinner.

Our hope had been for a fun, relaxing, and easy vacation away from all the craziness of life and jobs.  And boy did we accomplish that!  We had such a wonderful time getting away from everything and we loved getting to spend so much time with Robert and Lindsay.  I'm glad that I was able to check this goal off early, but I had such a great time that I might have to check it off again.  :)
