58. Cook 10 new dishes
I made Three-Bean Turkey Chili for Morgan's graduation party this past weekend. More on Morgan's graduation later.
This was my first real attempt at using the Crock-Pot I got for our wedding 4 1/2 years ago. We've used it unsuccessfully in the past but this time I wanted to make something that would be easy to serve at the party.
I looked through my cookbooks and found my Rival Crock-Pot Slow Cooker Recipes cookbook.
As I looked through it a couple of recipes stood out but Morgan and I ended up deciding on a turkey chili that looked good.
After some very minimal prep work on Saturday, I threw everything into the Crock Pot and let it do it's thing. Best invention for cooking ever!
It turned out great, everyone enjoyed it, and it was super easy! Here's the recipe if you're interested in trying it out:
Three-Bean Turkey Chili
Ingrediants
1 pound ground turkey
1 small onion, chopped
1 can (28 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
1 can (15 ounces) chick-peas (garbanzo beans), rinsed and drained
1 can (15 ounces) kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 can (15 ounces) black beans, rinsed and drained
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
1 can (about 4 ounces) chopped mild green chilies
1 to 2 tablespoons chili powder
Instructions
Step 1: Cook turkey and onion in medium skillet over medium-high heat, stirring to break up meat until turkey is no longer pink. Drain; place turkey mixture into slow cooker.
Step 2: Addremaining ingredients and mix well. Cover; cook on HIGH 6 to 8 hours.
Makes 6 to 8 servings
Mmmmm...so good!!!!
